The Lake House

Catherine and I were lucky enough to go the lake house this weekend. I unexpectedly got off of work and we left on Friday and came back today (Sunday). We had a great time, except for when I got upset over a serving spoon (don't ask). Friday night we were playing with Catherine's digital camera and figured out how to change the shutter speed. I took some pictures of the lake:

The atmosphere was intense. There was a heavy fog that was just over the tree tops and the lake was completely quiet. The few lights from the neighbors' yards made the fog glow. I wish I could describe it more fully, but you had to be there. It was peaceful and spooky all at the same time. After that we did light-writing:

The next morning Catherine took this beautiful picture of some flowers growing outside:

Joe's Joke No. 2

A physics professor is busy giving a lecture when a pre-med student rudely interrupts why they needed to learn this "pointless information." The professor replied:
"To save lives" and continued his lecture.
"How does physics save lives?" the student shot back.
The professor responded:
"By keeping idiots like you out of med school."

Matrix

I did a small test of a Matrix style camera spin around back in 2000. It's really just a digital camera on platforms of various heights but it's still interesting. Click on it to see it play.

UPDATE!: For some reason this won't play anymore, it did before. So you'll just have to wonder.

10 Random Things

Well... Jerry "Tagged Me" and said I had to write 10 random things about myself and I just can't say no to Jerry. So here goes!

1. I mentally give each number a gender, like number four is male and number eight is female.

2. I love sad songs.

3. If I had to change my name I would change it to Jack (not because of lost).

4. Zombies freak me out.

5. The ocean makes me sad.

6. I almost always get a headache when a storm moves in.

7. I really really don't like Sixflags, musicals, or the word "flesh".

8. My favorite organism is the Fraiser Fir.

9. I can look out my window (looks southward into midtown and downtown) and give information on every construction project and development that is visible.

10. I really like chocolate covered raisins.

Ok, so now im supposed to tag five people though I'm not entirely sure who has and hasn't done this already.
1. Jason
2. Ashley
3. Andrew
4. Rae
5. Natalie (I think you already did this, but there were only seven things)

My New Favorite

Catherine and I had our rehearsal dinner at Mojito's with our immediate family and relatives. I must admit that when my mom told me where she had booked us for the rehearsal dinner I was skeptical, but it was incredible! We had the whole place to ourselves and a fixed dinner menu. Mojito's serves Cuban cuisine and its amazing. Catherine's grandparents (on her father's side) are originally from cuba and they loved the food, as did just about everyone who was there. We'll catherine and I went back for valentine's day dinner last night, and had (if it's even possible) an even better experience. We had black beans and rice, plantanos maduros (sort of like fried bananas), crab and lobster soup, Vaca Frita, Buena Vista, and flan. I would highly recommend all of the food we had, everything is very flavorful and delicious. The restaurant is actually in the first floor of the Wyndham Hotel on 10th. When we went it wasn't very crowed, which is shocking, and our waitress was very friendly and did a great job. I would highly recommend eating there if you never have! Here is a link to their site:

Joe's Jokes No. 1

Alright everyone, its time for the first ever (on my blog) Joe's Jokes! I'll do my best to give credit where due, but I have no clue were most of my really bad jokes come from. Ok, here goes:

Q: What do you call the abominable snowman in the Sahara desert?
A: Lost

-Disney World

I claim no responsibility for the awfulness, tackiness, or stupidity of any joke :)

The Desk

Everyone should have a hobby, I tend to have too many, but still everyone should have a hobby. I personally love carpentry. It all started when, once again, Jeff and I were bored and decided to make a desk. I really like the great outdoors and since I was paying for all the materials I got to choose the style: rustic. So we had no clue what we were doing but it came out pretty good.

After that I was hooked, I'll put up some of my other pieces later. I actually sold this one to someone in Little Five Points. Part of Joe history I guess.

Blog Hopping

Have you ever had a moment where the full weight of your self centeredness was revealed to you? It's a moment where you realize just how much we make everything about ourselves. Well I had a mini one today, I realized I really only ever read my own blog; pretty sad, huh? There are so many interesting things going on in other peoples lives and I'm lucky enough to live in an age where people share that information freely. So, I decided to go blog hopping: thats where you go to one of your friends blogs and read some, then click a link from their blogroll that you arent familair with and check out a new blog. This keeps going until you reach a dead end or get bored. It was pretty great actually, it's great to see who knows who and hear things about others I've never even met before, however I did feel strange posting a reply on a strangers blog, so I gave up after a while. Blog hopping is worth trying if you have some free time one day.

The Princess Bride

One day, long long ago... my buddy Jeff and I got really bored. So we made a really short movie. Its title: The Princess Bride Reloaded. We mixed clips from the Princess Bride together with the music from the Matrix Reloaded DVD intro music to make the final piece. If you haven't seen the intro I'm talking about you should rent or borrow the matrix reloaded DVD and watch it for two reasons: first this video will make a whole lot more sense and second the DVD intro is pretty spectacular. I hope you guys enjoy the product of our boredom.

WINNER!

Ashley from Ft. Lauderdale, FL (originally Atlanta, GA) Was the only one to enter the inside joke contest, so she wins by default. However, her post was very clever! She used her own inside joke, so she wins twice over! Yey! OK now down to business, here is short featurette of her blog:

Ashley just moved to Ft. Lauderdale, FL. She loves her new house she found on craigslist. She also loves animals, probably more than oxygen. She loved 2007 and thinks she probably would have been a great hippie. Check out her site!

More Atlanta Deals

After posting the info about the aquarium I thought I would post some discount info again! Wooo! So this time it's info about our very own wonderful High Museum of Art. You can get free admission! If you go the the museum by 4pm on the first saturday of every month, you get in for free. The catch is you must have proof you live in fulton county, a drivers license works. I dont know if every one in the group must have proof or just one. When Catherine and I went we only needed her license to get in. How can you not take advantage of free?

The Aquarium

A week ago, Catherine and I got to take my visiting cousin Arezoo around atlanta, we took her to the aquarium at the end of our day. Did you know that if you have a student i'd you can get into the aquarium after 3pm for only $13 instead of the normal $31? Pretty awesome, anyway I love the aquarium! It always reminds me how creative our heavenly Father is. After visiting the aquarium I remembered this picture I made:

It's actually my very first attempt at something in photoshop, I was pretty happy with it.
